In Unstable Music To Sleep While You're Awake, Jean-Baptiste Geoffroy has chosen to work with a random mechanism that breaks down the initial samples to rearrange them into building movements. Each sequence finds itself at the center of a clever game of sound mirroring within which the reflections are affected by an uncertain distance. The truncated and reversed echoes are assembled in paradoxical but familiar structures.

Thus, the imperative tension/relaxation loses its significance. The listener enters a space free of any straitjacket, sensitive to the disorienting time and to the multiplicity of musical cells. Like the driver of the car boat in Richard Linklater's The Waking Life: "the idea is to remain in a state of constant departure while always arriving”. Travel and immobility become one in this sound substrate expanding on itself.

The title of the album evokes this state of waking dream (or drowsy reality) and the musician develops unstable soundscapes. The cottony sound atmosphere is indulged with the strong presence of low frequencies (especially in Unstable VIII) and forms an adequate playground for the bouncing of percussions, which are in turn woody and metallic in tone.
